EPA and DOE NAME PROGRESS LIGHTING 2007 ENERGY STAR® PARTNER OF THE YEAR
Spartanburg, SC – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Energy (DOE) have named Progress Lighting as a 2007 ENERGY STAR award winner for Product Manufacturer Partner of the Year for its outstanding contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by manufacturing and educating consumers about energy-efficient products. Progress Lighting’s accomplishments will be recognized at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on March 21, 2007.
Progress Lighting, an ENERGY STAR charter partner (since 1997), will be honored for its leadership in manufacturing interior and exterior lighting fixtures, ceiling fans and exit signs that earn the ENERGY STAR mark – the government-backed symbol of energy efficiency.
During the past year, Progress Lighting’s commitment to energy-efficient lighting was demonstrated by significant product development efforts to support California’s Title 24 energy legislation and the introduction of its groundbreaking residential LED lighting product line, EVERLUME™, as the first comprehensive residential solid-state lighting package of products.
Last year alone, Americans with the help of ENERGY STAR, saved $14 billion on their energy bills and reduced greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of more than 25 million vehicles.
“We significantly increased our development efforts in the area of energy-efficient lighting as evidenced by our ENERGY STAR and LED lighting development projects in the past year,” said Chris Primous, product manager, Progress Lighting. “Progress Lighting is committed to manufacturing and promoting quality energy-efficient lighting through the ENERGY STAR program, and we look forward to continuing to help our customers protect our natural resources for future generations by offering green-friendly and efficient lighting products.”
The 2007 Partner of the Year Awards are given to manufacturers and retailers that successfully promote and deliver ENERGY STAR qualified products, saving consumers money and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Award winners are selected from thousands of organizations that participate in the ENERGY STAR program each year.
“Partners like Progress Lighting have had an outstanding year in helping consumers help themselves,” said Bill Wehrum, acting assistant administrator for EPA's Office of Air and Radiation. "In addition to leading the way in manufacturing products that earn the ENERGY STAR, Progress Lighting also works to educate consumers about the importance of energy efficiency. These efforts are a win for consumers and for the environment.”
